Consort Maureen Sanders lunch with The Lady Mayoress
Mansion House: January 16th 2019
Having been invited to a lunch with The Lady Mayoress, Lindy Estlin, at The Mansion House, it was with great excitement and nervousness that I made my way to London on Wednesday last.
I was made very welcome as I entered The Mansion House and, with a number of other guests taken to the private sitting room of the Mayor and Lady Mayoress where drinks and canapés were served. All sixteen guests were then taken to a dining room where we all enjoyed a lovely lunch.
I was fortunate to be seated next to Lindy and learned a lot about their plans for their year and the charities her and her husband were supporting. Their main charity was Autism, which was very close to my heart as Ken and I have a grand daughter, who, at the age of nineteen has been diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome and after a detailed conversation on the subject, we agreed how little support there was for situations where the diagnosis was for teenagers.
As a bonus I also had a long conversation with an Alderman’s wife, who lived in the adjacent village in North Norfolk to where we have a holiday home. We had mutual friends in the area!
After lunch we had a short visit around The Mansion House and had the privilege of visiting the Plate Room
