Charities and organisations that support STEM
Supporting young scientists with potential
In 2013 WCSIM joined forces with Engineering (UK) and each year identify the best instrumentation students from the Big Bang Fair. The most promising candidates are invited to become Livery Apprentices and the overall winner receives and all paid trip to compete in The International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in the USA
Engineering (UK) aims to inspire, engage and inform the next generation of engineers and scientists via programmes designed to excite young people about the variety and opportunity presented by a career in modern engineering. In 2009, they introduced the Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineers Fair which has grown to become the United Kingdom's largest celebration of STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) for young people.
WCSIM sponsors four Arkwright Scholars per year through the Smallpeice Trust for two years. We also invite those Scholars to become Livery Apprentices. The Arkwright Scholarships Trust is an independent UK-wide charity that identifies, inspires and nurtures the country’s future leaders in engineering and technical design. It does this by awarding Scholarships through rigorous selection to outstanding technology-minded school students.
