Having ridden in a bendy bus for the first time, I arrived at the Scientific Instrument Makers Hall to be greeted by a carpet guard made up of a smiling group of Sea Cadets from Training Ship Cossack.   To be welcomed by these young people (there was a girl among them) was a really good sign that SIM is involved with the support and encouragement of the young in this country. It was no coincidence that the carpet guard were there on the night of the Admission Court Dinner as this dinner coincides as closely as possible with Trafalgar Day.

With the success of our involvement with the Arkwright Scholarship scheme the Court has agreed to the appointment of an Apprentice Warden.  Past Master Guy Brocklebank has agreed to accept this post for an initial three year period.  Guy will be looking for Liverymen to become ‘masters’ to our new apprentices so if you would be prepared to do this please contact Guy who will be pleased to give you more information.  The task is not onerous and is seen as important for the future of the Livery membership in attracting young people.
