The was the first time that NPL had entered a ladies’ team and it was the first time any of the ladies had rowed in the Great River Race.
NPL entered three teams for the Great River Race on Saturday 13th September, a twenty two mile row from Ham to Greenwich. Their ‘A’ boat ‘Arthur Alcock’ rows under the Livery Banner and this year we also sponsored the Ladies’ Boat ‘Jubilee Gal’.
The Arthur Alcock six oared crew completed the course in 2 hrs 28 minutes winning their class of Thames Waterman Cutter for the third time, along with the fastest time for a City of London based boat. The trophies are on display in the Livery office.
The Ladies’ boat, a four oared boat, came second in their boat class finishing in 2 hours 28 minutes, well inside their target time of 3 hours 15 minutes. The teams raised £1,265 for their chosen charity Cancer Research UK.
Liverymen from all three of the Hall owning companies followed the race on one of the Thames launches and had a great afternoon in the late summer sunshine, the crews look forward to having you all cheer them on next year!
